Buy CBD Oil in Australia – Should You Buy CBD?

The CBD in marijuana is one of the strongest known substances in cannabis and has been used for centuries. Today, you can only obtain CBD oil from a licensed doctor after a medical prescription is given by a registered physician.

Because of this, there are 2 different ways that many people use to get access to legal medical marijuana in Australia: State regulated legal pathways and illegal pathways. Many Australian states have established various medicinal cannabis programs. A doctor has to first receive approval from the state government before they can give you a prescription, which is called a “Notice of Issue.”

When it comes to getting medical marijuana in Australia, it is important to remember that only certain people qualify for the program. Anyone under 18 years old, anyone with a criminal record, and anyone with a history of drug abuse are excluded from the program. For this reason, it is important to always check with your doctor or pharmacist regarding any medications you may be taking or any other medications you may be taking for depression or other mental disorders.

If you do decide to use the program, be sure that you have your Australian medicinal cannabis card, which will be given to you by the Australian Health Practitioners Authority (AHPRA). If you are using the program as a means to get a medical card, then you must also obtain a Prescription Identification Card, or PHC. This is similar to a driver’s license and you will need to produce it when you visit a medical provider to get a prescription.

As with all types of pharmaceuticals, there are some drawbacks to the medicinal cannabis program in Australia. The biggest drawback is the fact that it takes time for the process to take place in the system and sometimes the results are not seen until several months have passed. Also, the quality of CBD in marijuana is lower than in other countries.

There are also some risks associated with the different forms of medical marijuana in Australia, including the risk of intoxication. If someone you know becomes intoxicated while using marijuana, there is a risk that they will be unable to remember anything that happened during the time they were impaired, including where they got their marijuana from, what they ate, or how long they spent driving or having a bowel movement.

By purchasing legally, a person will avoid all of the problems associated with getting a medicinal cannabis prescription. If they have questions, they can consult their doctor and they will not have to worry about driving or being impaired by it in order to have their questions answered. The only thing that can be done about these issues is to try to find out what kind of medication is causing the issue.

A medicinal cannabis program in Australia is very easy to get if you have a doctor’s recommendation. Even if the program does not work for you, there is an abundance of information available online to help people understand how it works and what to expect when they use it. So if you have medical marijuana in Australia, you should consider the options available and the options that do not involve taking illegal drugs.

Another advantage of buying medicinal marijuana in Australia is the ease of use that you will have with the program. The way that it works is that it allows doctors to prescribe a certain amount of marijuana each month to their patients to help them alleviate certain ailments that they are suffering from. It is not a big deal for anyone because the amount can be bought over the counter.

Many countries, including Canada and the United States, are considering medicinal marijuana programs, so that more people who are suffering with illnesses do not have to go to the extreme of using illegal drugs. The idea is that by giving people more choices about the amount that they get, they will be less likely to become addicted to it. It also reduces the cost of dealing with people who need more than the recommended amount of marijuana on a regular basis.

If you want to buy CBD oil in Australia, you will have to get it from a trusted source. Because it is such a new idea, there are many scams involved and many companies will not deliver their goods to the right place or will try to pass off fake merchandise as the real thing. There is a lot of hype surrounding this type of medication, so it is best to stay away from it. It is better to buy your marijuana online to keep from getting scammed.

Finding the Right Company For Your Air Conditioning Needs

When it comes to finding the best HVAC and AC contractors in the area, you have numerous options. You can choose from plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other companies who specialize in this field. In this article, I will give you a brief overview of what they offer and whether or not it is right for your needs.

The first thing you need to do when you are looking for an HVAC and AC contractor is contact a plumbing and electric company that specializes in this type of work. They can tell you what you need, where to find it, and how to get the job done right. They can also give you quotes and recommend a company with the lowest rates.

If you are looking to make your home more efficient, HVAC is the way to go. The problem with using conventional heating and cooling systems is that they tend to be very slow and inefficient. This means that you may not always have enough cool air circulating through the home when it is time for the heat to come on. When you use air conditioning systems, it allows air to circulate through the entire house.

When people think about air conditioning, they think about a system that has ductwork running from the outside of the home all the way into their bedrooms and bathrooms. These systems are the most common types of air conditioning services. However, there are many other air conditioning services available such as evaporative cooling, refrigerant dehumidification, and other options to choose from.

The reason why you need HVAC services is that they can help you improve the efficiency of your home by eliminating excess energy waste that can lead to higher electricity bills. These systems can also help to improve air quality in your home as well.

Another great thing about HVAC and AC contractors is that they can install these systems for you, without you having to hire a plumber. This makes them much more affordable than hiring a plumber. If you were to try and install the system yourself, you would have to spend a great deal of money on the materials and tools, hiring the plumber, and training the plumber if you did not, and you would not have to worry about getting the job done right.

It is important to remember, however, to hire a professional plumber when you are looking to hire an HVAC contractor. This way, you know you have a trained and licensed person doing your job, and you will be confident that you are dealing with a person you can trust. and trust in the future.

Finding a company that offers all of the HVAC and AC services that you need is important when it comes to finding the best company for this kind of work. Take some time to look around and find a company that has been in the business for a long time.

One way to find out if the company you are thinking of hiring has been in the business for a while is to call the phone number and ask if they can give you a professional air and heating quote. If the plumber says yes, then this is a sign that they have been in business for some time and they will likely offer you a good price on their services. You can do the same thing by asking for a list of the items that they will have to do for your air conditioning needs.

It is also a good idea to look online at their website and look for reviews of the business and make sure you find out what kind of business they are in and if there are any complaints against them from customers, such as the Better Business Bureau. You should be able to find out about a company that is reliable by looking at their website and making sure it gives you good information about the company and how they treat their customers.

It is a good idea to contact your local Air Conditioning Contractor association or call your city and ask if they have any complaints against the company you are considering. This is another great way to get information about any past problems that the company may have had and also a great way to find out if the HVAC contractor will actually be able to do the work that you need.

Air conditioners are very important parts of the comfort of the home that we use every day. Having the correct air conditioning system that works efficiently and effectively will save us money. Hiring a reputable air conditioner contractor can help to make these costs easier to manage.

How To Choose A Tablet Case

The decision to get a tablet case is a big one. This article will try to guide you through the whole process and hopefully get you to make the right choice before you buy your new case.

So what’s the big deal about these cases? Well, first of all they look cool. A lot of people who purchase a new case for their tablet PC have to choose a color that goes with the rest of their living room decor. You have to be careful not to choose an exact replica of another piece of furniture, but rather pick something that will fit into your living room in general.

Another important aspect to consider when choosing a case is protection. If you are going to be using your tablet PC in an area where water can easily pool, then you need to get a case that is water resistant. You should also buy a case that covers your tablet PC completely. This means that even if it was to fall off a table, it would still have the ability to protect itself.

Finally, you need to think about what style of tablet case you want. There are many different styles that you can purchase. Some are more traditional and have a wooden frame. Others come with straps on either end, or with clips. You also have the option of buying a hard shell case that’s completely sealed away from water.

If you’re buying a case for use on the go, then you’ll want something that looks good while being mobile. You don’t need to purchase a case that matches the rest of your furniture, but rather choose one that works well with your current furnishings so that you can get to your workstation without any hassle.

Before you purchase a case, you need to make sure that you are aware of the size and weight of the tablet. Most tablets come in a standard size, but you should also ensure that your case fits correctly. Many cases are only meant to fit a small screen, but you can get them in various sizes if you need to.

Next, you’ll need to figure out how much room your tablet holds. Most cases are designed to hold a single tablet, but some come with two, three, or even four. You’ll want to figure out if this would be sufficient for the number of things that you plan to put on it, and the size of the screen that you intend to use.

If you have to decide if you want a new case with a USB port or a docking station, then you need to think carefully about this. If you have an external keyboard and mouse, you probably want to opt for a case that comes with a docking station. In this case, you will be able to use both at the same time so that you can enjoy two working devices at one time.

You should also consider the type of keyboard and mouse that you will use in order to determine the right size and weight for your case. If you only need a mouse and not a keyboard, you will need to take into consideration how large the screen is that you’ll be using. If you’re using a keyboard, you’ll have to take into account how much weight you’re planning to carry.

Another important consideration when purchasing a case is what features you want. Some cases only have a few different features, whereas others will allow you to do everything from charging the tablet to playing games on it, to connecting Bluetooth speakers and headphones, all the way up to having the ability to download applications.

With all of these different styles available, you can certainly find the perfect one for you. You can buy a complete case that has everything, or you can simply purchase separate accessories.

Just remember to think about what features you really need before buying a case. This way, you can find one that will fit into your budget and one that you enjoy having.

Search Engine Optimization – Tips For Choosing An SEO Company

Many online businesses look for Auckland SEO Agency reviews before making a decision on what firm to outsource the task to. Not all firms are created equal and some of them deliver really good results, but this is something that can be easily overlooked if you do not read through these Auckland SEO Agency reviews.

Search engine optimization (SEO) services are provided by several SEO companies in Auckland, but not all of them are able to deliver what the online business owners need. The success or failure of any website is determined by many factors. It is very important that you choose the right firm that will cater to your needs and expectations.

There are thousands of SEO companies, each with their own style and approach to SEO, but the best of them all are the companies that provide services like the SSA (Search Engine Optimization). This is the main pillar of SEO.

A single SEO company can’t help you find a niche in a very competitive market, but it can definitely assist you in making your company stand out in a sea of other online businesses. Without some kind of SEO help, it can be very difficult to get your business to the top of Google’s list of the most popular search results.

With the vast number of SEO companies that are available in Auckland, it can be quite difficult to make the right choice when looking for a firm that can offer you their services. Not all SEO firms can deliver the quality you expect from them and finding the right company to work with is a major task.

The role of a SSA (Search Engine Optimization) firm is to enhance the visibility of your website among people who are searching for the information you have on your site. This is achieved by increasing the rank of your site among search engines that will attract more visitors to your site.

MostSEO companies in Auckland use different methods to achieve this end, depending on the target audience that they are addressing. Some offer PPC campaigns or pay per click campaigns, which will help increase the number of online visitors to your site.

Another important aspect that you should consider when looking for a good service provider is their customer support services. They should be able to provide 24 hours a day, with an online chat option where you can talk to them easily.

One of the most important aspects of a SSA company is their support staff. They should have highly skilled and professional staff members who can provide you with comprehensive SEO solutions.

Your website owner should be able to provide you with as much information as possible about the company he has chosen. This includes testimonials from satisfied customers, a free demo page of the site he has chosen, contact details of the owner, and more.

The owner of the SEO firm should also provide a free quote and then follow up on his clients on an ongoing basis. You should be able to trust your site’s owner enough to handle all the problems you may encounter.

This is why it is important to find an arts agency that is proven and reliable. A reliable and professional company is the one you should go for.

Gold Coast homeless kids get helping hugs in unique project to get them off streets

In some of the darkest corners of the Gold Coast, a hug from police liaison officer Saga Selsby can be life-changing.

Key points:

  • Street CRED is a unique program helping vulnerable young people on the Gold Coast
  • The project has engaged with 230 youths over a 13-month period
  • It has won a 2019 Queensland Child Protection Week Regional Program Award

Once a week at sundown, she dons a hoodie and jeans and hits the streets with the group of child-support workers that make up Project Street CRED (Collaborate, Re-engage, Empower, Deter).

“We identify young people who might be at risk, homeless or vulnerable and then we just engage,” Ms Selsby said.

“It’s as simple as just sitting down with them and saying ‘how’s everything going?’ and then they kind of spill their guts and tell us everything.

“It usually starts off with a hug, because I love my hugs.”

It is a powerful gesture on the team’s beat of Southport, Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, where kindness can be a rare commodity.

“Her hugs are amazing, they’re the best,” said Keely Johnson, 18.

“The whole team does a lot to help and I think it is because they actually care about the children, they take the time to know their stories and know what is going on and their background.

“They actually give the help they need and not the help they think they need.

“When I was homeless they helped a lot, they came and visited me and because I was in the bush it would have been harder for them but they came into the bush and visited us almost every day.”

The unique program was a winner at the 2019 Queensland Child Protection Awards and is a collaboration between the Queensland Police Service, Department of Child Safety, Department of Youth Justice, Gold Coast Youth Service and G:link (the Gold Coast light rail service).

“This has been wildly successful. For a very basic concept it works really well,” said Inspector Owen Hortz, who oversees the Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise areas.

“We find if we go out and see the kids where they are living and where they are experiencing the problems, it is really well received rather than expecting them to come into an office during office hours.”

In just over a year, Street CRED has engaged with 230 vulnerable young people, five of whom Ms Selsby said were “back on the straight and narrow”, with dozens more “a work in progress”.

On the ground, workers reach out to at-risk young people, handing out food vouchers and Go Cards (public transport cards) and surveying popular hang-outs for evidence of drug use and gang activity.

During the ensuing days workers refer youths to relevant support services.

“The real work is in the follow-up, so we build the relationship on that night and then the follow-up that happens during business hours is what makes it work as well,” Ms Selsby said.

“Growing up I was always told it takes a village to raise a child and so this for me is an example of that.

“I’m hoping that as a result of the [Queensland Child Protection] award the program will roll out and be tailored statewide and that services can work together like this everywhere.

A close-up of two people on the streets at nightPHOTO: Inspector Owen Hortz and Saga Selsby keeping an eye on youths during a Street CRED patrol. (ABC Gold Coast: Steve Keen)

“My biggest hope it that it will have sustainable outcomes for young people.”

For Cody Grzazek, 18, that has already happened.

He was one of Street CRED’s first engagements and said he now had a future he was excited about.

“I was actually living in a bush behind Southport and they pretty much helped me move into a house,” he said.

“They stopped me from being homeless, they helped me get money when I needed it, and they stopped me from being hungry when I needed it.

“Whenever someone is in trouble I tell them to go to them (Street CRED), they’ll get them sorted.”

Gold Coast beachcomber collects trash not treasure from beaches, urges others to do the same

Queensland’s famous Gold Coast beaches may look clean and pristine at first glance, however one local beachcomber says you are more likely to find buried trash than treasure.

Key points:

  • One Gold Coast resident has been removing the litter from local beaches and encouraging others to do the same through Instagram
  • Jennifer Schultz has been collecting “whole bags of rubbish” including cigarette butts, food waste, drink containers and used tampons
  • The BeachCare project has also been removing litter from Gold Coast beaches including 500kg of rubbish last financial year

Jennifer Schultz from Mermaid Waters said she loved sifting through the sand trying to find unique shells and fossils, but she did not enjoy the volume of rubbish that came with it.

“It shocks me sometimes the amount of trash I’m finding,” she said.

“I walk the rack lines, which is a high tide line, quite often and I just pick up what I see, and sometimes I come back with a whole bag of rubbish.

“I’m looking for shells, fossils, nice things, and to find a cigarette butt, a dog poo bag, a can, lids, straws — it just keeps on going and it’s the whole way up the beach.”

Making a difference

Ms Schultz decided to collect and dispose of the rubbish she found along her beach walks. She said it was an easy task as she did not need to go out of her way to do it.

Rubbish on Australian beaches

  • Plastic — 35 per cent
  • Cigarette butts and miscellaneous rubbish — 24 per cent
  • Glass — 13 per cent
  • Metals — 12 per cent
  • Paper — 8 per cent
  • Polystyrene — 6 per cent
  • Wood — 1 per cent
  • Rubber — 1 per cent
  • A total of 69,170 items were found at 140 coastal sites

“If I pick up a few bits and everybody else picks up a few bits, we can all make a difference,” she said.

“It’s only a little dent and it feels so tiny, but I know in the big scheme of things every day that I go out, every step I take, every single thing I see and pick up makes a difference.”

Ms Schultz admitted there was a real “gross factor” to collecting other people’s rubbish, and her mum thought she was “crazy” for collecting some of the more unpleasant items.

“Used tampons, used pads, bandaids, bandages; they’re pretty gross,” she said.

“I do use gloves for picking up things like that.

“Dog poo in bags; if you’re going to take your dog to the beach please take your poo with you.”

Influencing on Instagram

Ms Schultz has taken her war on waste a step further by connecting with other Gold Coast locals and tourists on Instagram through confronting imagery.

Her trashy beach photos are featured heavily in her Instagram photo collection and effectively highlight the large quantity of waste being discarded by beach users.

“If you see an entire pizza box filled with cigarette butts, it makes an impact,” Ms Schultz said.

“I went for a walk and I came back with a bag full of rubbish including cans, bottles, cigarette butts — all the gross things that I didn’t expect to find because I was looking for shells.

“That can make a difference if one person sees that and they go, ‘Oh wow, I can do that too’.

“I might just influence somebody.”

Five hundred kilograms of rubbish

Ms Schultz has not been alone in her mission to clean up Gold Coast beaches.

Over the past 15 years Griffith Centre for Coastal Management and the City of Gold Coast have run the BeachCare community program to conserve and protect the city’s coastline.

Project officer, James Gullison, said last financial year BeachCare volunteers collected 500 kilograms of debris off the dunes.

“The most common items found on the beaches for the year were approximately 6,000 cigarette butts, 3,000 pieces of soft plastic, 1,800 pieces of paper, 1,500 pieces of hard plastic, and 800 pieces of foam,” he said.

Mr Gullison said the program would not have been successful without the many volunteers who have participated.

“Over 1,100 volunteers participated in 40 events during the 2018/19 financial year,” he said.

“Gold Coast residents are passionate about where they live, in particular the many beaches we are fortunate to have in the region.”

Mr Gullison said the BeachCare volunteers noticed the impact of the Queensland Government introducing plastic bag bans and a container refund scheme in 2018.

“Once those bans and legislation came in place there was a noticeable reduction in the number of plastic bags and bottles and cans found on our beaches,” he said.

Gold Coast hinterland fire prompts question — can rainforests burn?

Acting Queensland Premier Jackie Trad says the Gold Coast hinterland fire that swept through the area over the weekend included areas of rainforest — a highly unusual event, but one that appears to be occurring more frequently in recent times.

Key points:

  • Rainforest is normally quite fire resistant as opposed to eucalyptus forest, which is more flammable
  • But satellite observations suggest some rainforest has burnt in the Gold Coast hinterland
  • Griffith University PhD student Patrick Norman says he thinks this hasn’t happened before

University of Queensland Associate Professor Rod Fensham said it was “a bit premature to know to what extent the rainforest has burnt” but similar fires occurred in Central Queensland just last year.

“You have to wonder about the effects of global climate change on our climate when it is less than a year [since] we had those really exceptional fires in Central Queensland,” he said.

“You might have been able to excuse them as a one-off event last year, but here we are less than a year later and we have another set of fires in Queensland.

“We have these two very divergent biomes — the rainforest which is diverse in tree species and quite fire resistant, and the eucalyptus forest which is actually quite flammable and does burn. And generally, fires burn through the eucalyptus forest from time to time, and sharpen the boundaries between the two systems.”

Griffith University PhD student Patrick Norman is studying protected land management and was a former park ranger at the Lamington National Park where the fires occurred.

“It’s very concerning, especially this early in the season, so for fires to be starting in early September is very concerning, let alone in rainforest.

“It doesn’t happen often and I’m really hoping it’s mainly sticking to the eucalypt forests around the rainforests.

“Some observations from the VIIRS (Visual Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) satellite that detects temperature changes in forests, suggests it looks like there are actually a few areas of rainforest burnt, which is very concerning.

“To my knowledge this hasn’t happened before in the Gold Coast hinterland. It takes 100 to 150 years for sub-tropical rainforest to regrow … especially those large emergent trees that stick out over the top of the canopy, so waiting for those trees to get big enough, is a long time.

“The area that looks like it’s been burnt, there are a few threatened bird species … the black-breasted button quail, it’s a nice known habitat in that area, so that’s a major concern.”

‘Fire can start almost anywhere’

Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC chief executive Richard Thornton said the dry conditions meant no areas were safe.

“Going back over the past number of years, where we’ve had ongoing drought conditions throughout most of south-eastern Queensland, and indeed, all the way down the east coast, our outlook was saying that these areas in particularly, these areas would be susceptible to above average fire threat this year,” Mr Thornton said.

“Given the conditions that we’re seeing here, with ongoing drought and above average temperatures, fire can start almost anywhere because the fuel is just so dry.

“We are always surprised when rainforest starts to burn, it indicates how dry and how dangerous the conditions are. Rainforests normally don’t burn but they will burn when the conditions are right, but it’s very unusual for rainforest to burn.

“Certainly last year in central and northern Queensland we saw rainforest burning as part of those fires and more recently we’ve seen fires in extreme fire intolerant landscapes in Tasmania, in what were usually areas that don’t burn too well … the challenge is how we deal with this because it’s not a normal occurrence.

“If it’s a eucalypt-dominated forest — even if it’s a rainforest understory, you will get fires occasionally.”

Space to play or pause, M to mute, left and right arrows to seek, up and down arrows for volume.

Without rain, Mr Thornton said further fires in rainforest areas were possible.

“Considering the current dry conditions, we shouldn’t be surprised to see fires in rainforest again … that’s probably the case until we get decent rainfall,” he said.

“The only thing that will stop these fires is good quality rainfall. And the only thing that will lower the fire danger risk this coming summer is a sustained period of rain, one or two days just won’t do it. It will need to be substantial rainfall and there’s none of that in the outlook that we can see.”

‘Let’s hope it doesn’t happen’

Shane O’Reilly from O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat said his family had arrived on the mountain in 1911 and he was unaware of the rainforest in the area ever being impacted by fire.

“There has never been a bushfire in the rainforest but in the eucalypt country many times but that’s lower down the mountain,” he said.

“We’re surrounded by the sub-tropical rainforest that doesn’t burn or hasn’t burned to the best of our knowledge, ever.

“Binna Burra nearly burnt down a couple of decades ago when the Groom family were doing some backburning and a fire got away and they nearly lost the lodge then.

“I think anyone who lives in eucalypt country, you really have to be extremely aware that you’re facing a potential problem at some stage.

“We’re not worried because we’re surrounded by rainforest, we’re in a very fortunate situation.

“I’m not saying it won’t burn in the future, but a scientist once told me it’s been about 3 million years since that sub-tropical rainforest has burnt … let’s hope it doesn’t happen in the next couple of decades.”

Gold Coast City Council waived rent it previously claimed developer Villawood Properties owed

The Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) waived tens of thousands of dollars in rental fees it previously claimed was owed to it by a property developer, following an internal meeting involving two councillors who had previously received electoral donations from the company involved.

Key points:

  • Villawood Properties’ sales office is on land that it had provided to Gold Coast City Council for public open space
  • When the council charged the property developer for use of the land, the company objected to the fees
  • The charges were eventually waived

The developer, Villawood Properties, is building a large housing estate at Kingsholme on the northern Gold Coast and has made electoral donations to Deputy Mayor Donna Gates and Councillor William Owen-Jones.

Both politicians say they did not drop the council’s fees or instruct a council officer to do so.

Developer donates land it’s still using

Documents released to the ABC under Right To Information laws show the saga began when Villawood Properties provided some land to the council at its Montego Hills estate in 2016, to be maintained as public open space as part of the housing development.

But there was one problem for the developer.

Its sales office had been built on the land it no longer owned.

The documents released to the ABC show by the end of 2018 there was a flurry of emails between Gold Coast City Council staff trying to sort out what to do.

In one email a council executive estimates the company should be charged between $35,000 and $117,000 a year for the use of the council land, while noting: “I need to treat this developer like all others”.

Another email by a different staff member explained the developer had by 2018 already been on the site for “over two years without tenure”.

By November, a course of action had been decided on, and a council officer sent a bill to Villawood’s town planners.

It included an application fee of $458, a refundable bond of $20,000, and a ground rental charge of $700 per week for the ongoing use of the council land for the company’s sales office.

Developer tries to overturn fees

Villawood Properties objected to the fees, but an officer declined to remove them.

Documents show that, with the fees and charges unpaid, a council worker had the locks to the sales office changed on April 9 to allow maintenance crews access.

Villawood Properties director Tony Johnson reacted by writing an angry email to Mayor Tom Tate, which he also sent to Deputy Mayor Donna Gates.

He said he was “writing this email with strong resentment and [was] disappointed”.

Mr Johnson went on to say, “I have never in my 30 years in this industry come across such an action and am offended that GCCC would even contemplate such”.

He was upset at being charged rent for land his company had owned and provided to the council.

Following this email, Councillor Gates and Councillor William Owen-Jones organised a meeting with two of the council officers involved.

Councillors declare donations

Both councillors had accepted election campaign donations from Villawood Properties or its representatives.

Councillor William Owen-Jones accepted a $975 donation before the last local government election while Councillor Gates lists $1,850 from Villawood and nearly $11,000 from its town planners on her register of interests.

Councillor Owen-Jones told the ABC he had spoken to Villawood directly about the issue before the meeting, and he declared the company’s donation at the meeting with the council officers.

“Just because we have received a contribution to an election campaign, doesn’t mean we stop being elected representatives,” he said.

Councillor Owen-Jones said that he did not instruct council officers about what to do and had not been aware that the fees and charges were eventually waived by the council.

Deputy Mayor contacts Villawood

After the meeting with the two council officers, Councillor Gates emailed Mr Johnson, the developer.

“Today I’ve met with the manager and put forward the positive aspects of Villawood’s investment in our city, especially in the context of parks officers’ handling of the Montego site office and its future use,” she wrote.

She praised the developer for its contribution to the city and said that the matter “had been poorly handled by Council and for that I am sorry”.

Responding to questions from the ABC, Councillor Gates said “perceived conflict of interest declarations were made” at the meeting with council staff and “councillors do not instruct officers”.

“As the representative for that area, it is normal for me to meet with officers to discuss such matters,” she said.

Councillor Gates said she could not recall any further notification about the matter after access was reinstated to Villawood Properties.

Council worker writes complaint

One of the council officers at that meeting later wrote a letter that was sent to council managers, detailing his concerns.

In that long account of events, he said, “No minutes were taken in this meeting nor [were] administration staff present”.

The council officer said while the councillors did not give a direct instruction to him at the meeting, both councillors discussed the possibility fees and charges “could be reassessed/renegotiated in consideration of the investment and good faith shown by Villawood Properties across the city”.

The council officer wrote that he then visited the Villawood Properties site on May 9, after receiving no instructions from council staff or the developer, about the payment dispute.

“The chain securing access to the site had been cut and Villawood locks reintroduced to facilitate access to the location,” he wrote.

“This has not been done under my direction nor the direction of anyone as far as I am aware.”

Fees are waived

On May 21, a council officer from the city’s parks department emailed Councillor Gates and Councillor Owen-Jones.

“I wish to advise the City intends to waive the fees applicable subject to the appropriate bond being paid and Villawood maintaining the site,” he wrote.

He said that decision had been made following a discussion between Gold Coast council staff members and representatives from Villawood.

Another council officer wrote an email saying he had supported the proposal to waive the fees because “Villawood could simply not have transferred the property to Council and then had no fees”.

He said he was not aware of any councillor involvement “and as such, that had no influence over my recommendation to waive the fees/charges”.

A council spokesperson said Villawood was the previous owner of the land; however, it dedicated the parkland back to the council while the sales office was still operating.

“It appears Villawood made a genuine error in not realising the implications of dedicating the land while the sales office was still in operation,” the spokesperson said.

“As a result and in good faith, the City took Villawood’s error into account and has not charged rental for the immediate period.”

Villawood Properties has not responded to the ABC.

Police arrest man over car with false plates that crashed into Gold Coast house, trapping girl

A teenage girl has been rescued after becoming trapped inside a house when a car crashed through the front wall on the Gold Coast early on Sunday morning.

Key points:

  • Police say the car had false number plates
  • Nobody was injured in the accident but a teenage girl was trapped in her room
  • Police want to hear from anyone with dashcam vision of the car just before the crash

Emergency crews were called to Kallaroo Crescent at Ashmore just before 4:00am to find a car had crashed through the front of the brick house.

Police said the driver fled the scene and that the car, a white Nissan Qashqai, had false plates.

Just before midday, police arrested a man in his late 20s, whom they suspected of being involved in the incident.

An ambulance spokeswoman said a woman in her 50s and a 15-year-old girl were asleep inside the house at the time.

Police called the accident a hit and run, saying it was fortunate that neither of the two people in the house was injured.

The damage to the house did leave the teenage girl trapped inside a room, and fire crews had to stabilise the building before they were able to safely get her out.

Police want to hear from anyone with dashcam vision or CCTV of the car before the crash.
